2011: In addition to its forty YouthBuild trainees, YB Lake County has enrolled or plans to enroll another sixty trainees in its other programs that focus on areas such as pre-union construction, automotive technology, and weatherization. The organization is currently completing its first set of affordable and sustainable housing in North Chicago and is working on rehabilitation projects in Zion.
On November 10, 2011, YouthBuild Lake County recognized Anne Flannery with its annual Green Building Team Award for her work in preparation for North Chicago’s “YouthBuild Green Building Day”. Anne oversaw a project that installed over $5,000 worth of native and sustainable plantings for North Chicago’s first energy efficient, affordable home.
